Music and Wine Pairings

Music is a huge part of what we do not only in terms of winemaking but in our every day lives.  Whether it’s making trips to the vineyard to check grapes, crushing fruit during harvest, or washing barrels, we always have a soundtrack that flows through the course of the vintage.  We feel lucky to be able to team up with Spotify to share that soundtrack with you to create a sense of community even from thousands of miles away.  The artists in these playlists are inspiring to us in terms of what we create, and we hope that listening to these tracks while enjoying the accompanying wine can give you a more integrative experience.

2017 Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2017 vintage was the first for Tarpon Cellars.  But the excitement of a new beginning was overtaken by the terror of the fires that ravaged Napa Valley and Sonoma the day after this wine went to barrel.  This playlist explores the duality of joy and sorrow, along with darkness and light.

2018 Sauvignon Blanc

The harvest in 2018 was long at times, hot at times, and filled with waiting.  Just when it seemed as if the Sauvignon Blanc was ready to be picked, we were blessed with another cool week that delayed the harvest.  A test in patience, we knew that the grapes would come along when they were ready and nature did not disappoint.  While displaying some of the tropical notes that were also apparent in  2017, this year ushered in  a welcome floral note as well as depth in palate to complement the beachy aromas that we loved from last year.  Perfect for a summer day or a dinner after a fishing trip, this wine has a serious side that borders on melancholy and begs to be explored.  Thanks for taking part in this journey and thanks for listening, we hope you enjoy the pairing.

2018 Rosé of Cabernet Sauvignon

We reached out to the Futurebirds for some help on this playlist, and we did what felt like the only natural thing to do which is go to a farm in Appling, GA to drink rosé and listen to music all day before jumping into the lake.  Sunshine runs rampant through both the wine and the playlist, with the rosé matching the themes of light and airiness of the music.  While not sweet, there is a saccharine quality throughout that pairs perfectly with a warm day outside.  Whether it’s on the front porch, the back deck, or by the lake, we hope you enjoy this pairing that is custom made for spring and summer.  Thanks again to the Futurebirds for a special day and for collaborating on this playlist with us.
